The Drunkard's Path pattern is a mainstay of historical quilt collections.  The pattern traditionally involves only two colors and two "simple" blocks ... simple except for the fact that they involve curves!  The technique shown below makes these blocks a snap through our pieced-by-appliqué approach.  The Drunkard's path blocks can be arranged in a nearly infinite number of layouts.  In Mary Henderson's book, a streamlined assembly process is presented for six of the most popular layouts.

Cut fabrics and interfacing into squares.

Place interfacing on dark fabric.

Stitch on the printed solid lines -- both curves.

Cut on the dashed lines (between stitches).

Flip-turn right sides out.

Fuse pieces onto 4-1/2" squares of light fabric.
